The South Arkansas Historical Preservation Society was established in the 1970s with the aim of promoting awareness and understanding of Arkansas’ rich history. Previously known as the South Arkansas Historical Foundation, Inc., the organization has been educating the public for more than 30 years. In 2009, the Preservation Society was formed to support the activities of the SAHPS. Through your donation to the society, you help preserve the Newton House Museum, maintain the Gallery of History Museum, support the upkeep of our archives, organize the annual Mayhaw Festival, and participate in educational programs offered regularly by the society. Our partnership with the community is instrumental in keeping history alive.
