1968 A Folsom Redemption

Step inside the photographs and witness the concert that brought Johnny Cash back to center stage.

The Gallery of History Museum presents 1968: A Folsom Redemption, a traveling photography exhibition exploring Johnny Cash’s historic concerts at Folsom Prison. Through more than 30 rare photographs and firsthand memories from photographer Dan Poush and writer Gene Beley, visitors can experience the people, stories, and behind-the-scenes moments surrounding this turning point in American music history.

The exhibition follows Cash from his legendary January 1968 prison performances—which produced the acclaimed At Folsom Prison album—through his renewed popularity and rise toward hosting his network television show in 1969.

The South Arkansas Historical Preservation Society invites the community to a free open house on Thursday, September 24, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Guests may drop in anytime to explore the exhibition, enjoy food and drinks, enter for door prizes, and visit with others from across the community. There will be no formal program.

The exhibition is organized by ExhibitsUSA, a program of Mid-America Arts Alliance.
